Benghazi, June 1.-Britain today an nounced that she recognised the Grand Senussi, Emir Driss El Senussi, as head of the State of Cyrenaica, and accepted the formation of a National Government.
Mr de Candole, the British Administrator of Cyrenaica, told the Assembly of the National Congress of Cyrenaica here that the British Government was inviting the Grand Semussi to Londor for discussions on the new Government.
Cyrenaica, the eastern part of Libya bordoring. Egypt, is inhabited by a quarter of a million Senussi, united a century ago by Driss Ei Senusel's grandfather into a powerful Moslem community, famed for their zeal in the defence of Islam.
