Britain Seeking New Formula For Settlement

London, May 18.-Britain expects to reopen direct talks with Italy and other nations in the hope of finding an acceptable settlement on the future of Italy's prewar African colonies.

Informed diplomatic officials said yester- day if an overall plan is worked out, it will be submitted to the United Nations General Assembly when it meets next September.
