EMPIRE CRICKETERS MAY PLAY BIG PART IN COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP

By PETER DITTON

Empire cricketers will play a big part in this season's county championship. Four of them in particular, Pritchard of Warwick- shire, McMahon of Surrey and Walsh and Jackson of Lei- cestershire may prove the keymen of their respective county elevens.

Last year, Leicestershire were the only English county to have a professional captain. This year Leslie Berry has handed over his duties to Stuart Syming- ton, a young amateur who appeared twice for the county against Essex and Hampshire. This will leave Berry free to concentrate on his job as opening batsman, and a lot will depend on his efforts,

Symington is fortunate in having two such fine importations in his team as Last season Jack Walsh and Victor Jackson, both of whom are Australians.
