FINANCIAL AID FOR Security Pact New Indonesian
FEDERATION OF MALAYA
British Govt. To Subscribe £6 Mill.
London, Mar. 30.-The British Govern- ment would shortly seek authority for £5,000,000 for the Federation of Malaya, the Colonial Under-Secretary, Mr David Rees Williams, announced in the House of Commons today.
He said the Government had been con- sidering the difficulties of the Federation and the money would be for meeting expenditure incurred by the Federation in maintaining internal security in 1949.
"We shall also ask for £1,000,000 in respect of the expenses of the Imperial forces in 1948 and 1949," Mr Rees Williams added.
He said that further help may be neces- sary in 1950, and "in the event of a material reviewed in the change the matter will be light of the position as it emerges."
