WORLD EATING

BETTER

But Scarcity Still Exists.

Washington, Dec. 16.-The world is eating better today than at any time since the war. But vast areas still are poorly fed. Europe still must import big amounts of food from the Western hemisphere.

As a result of big production increases in major crops this year, the total world food supply for the next eight months will be about equal to prewar levels, experts say.

. But each person's "share" of the available food is smaller than it was before the war. This is because there are 10 percent more people in the world today than there were 10 years ago. Every morning there are 55,000 additional mouths to feed.

Well protected from the fresh winds, Princess Eliza- beth's baby has his second outing. In this exclusive photograph he is seen in his pram being pushed round the grounds of Buckingham Palace by his nurse, Sister Helen Rowe.
