HE summer session of the na- flonal championships tourna- of the American Contract Bridgo Leogue Was held at the Hotel Stevens in Chicago, Ill., July 81 to August ). Many players may be surprised to learn that
this tournament, which has been held
in the cast since 1939, is being taken to the middle west.
But they also might be surprised to learn that this particular tour- nament originated in Chicago. It was held in that city in 1929. Thero 18 great enthusiasm throughout the west and middle west because of the return of the nationals to Chicago this year.
Heretofore most titles have been won by eastern players but, in my opinion, that was because there were more castern players entered. I think that this year's summer nationals in Chicago
