Mr McAusland asked for a serious view to be taken because of the water shortage in the Colony at present.
Remarking that it was defendants' first offence, Mr Lo imposed
nominal fine of $25 each, but he warned that the maximum penally would be imposed in future.

Canton, May 18.—Kwangtung Province orice again faces the danger of summer floods, while Hongkong, 100 miles from here, is anxiously watching its low water supply situation.
The East River (a tributary of the Pearl River) is said to be over- flowing and many of the fertila form- lands are under water.
