THREE RAIDS ON TEL-AVIV

Five Jews Killed: Two Planes Shot Down

MUFTI OF JERUSALEM

ENTERS PALESTINE

Palestine, May 16.-Five Jews were killed and two enomy planos were shot down in the third air raid today on the Jewish capital of Tel-Aviv. One of the planes plunged into the soa near Herzlia while the other made a forced landing bringing the two day score to three onomy aircraft shot down. Little damage was done today by the

raidors.

Arab planes were also reported by Jewish sources here to have attacked two Jewish settlements of Affikim and A shdot Yaacov in the Tiberias district. These reports said that the two settlements snuggling in the Jordan valley were attacked by three planes and several children were reported to be wounded.

Reports from Jerusalem said that the western suburba where

were still under heavy fire while the Arabs opened an attack on the Jowish quarter inside the old walls. The Arabs were also reported to be attacking the small Jowish village of Neva Yaacob in the Judean hills six miles northeast of Jerusalem.

Jewish forces presented no strong opposition to the raiding Egyptian planes. Anti-aircraft fire was light and no Jewish planes engaged the 'ralders in dogfights.

Slender Egyptian spitres flew virtually ununolested high in blue skios over Tel-Aviv in several alerts today. Private sources indicated however, the Jews are holding back any counter attack until the appro- priate moment. These sources spoke in velled terms of "a visit to Caire" us a reprisal bombing.
