4 Officers Killed, Six Wounded

Four Chinese Maritime Cus- toms men were reported killed and six wounded in a battle with bandits which attacked the Customs station at Shatau on Wednesday night.

Shatau is on Deep Bay,' not far north from the border from Lau Fau Shan, the scene of an abortive bandit hunt by Hong- last kong police and troops week.

The bandits, numbering over 100, attacked the station about 0 p.m. on Wednesday: Hand grenades" and other explosives were hurled into the building, which was partially wrecked.

Jerusalem, May 13-Jewish forces to- night tightened their grip on Jerusalem and the Palestine coastline as Britain's mandatory reign neared its official ond at midnight to- morrow. Jewish troops will occupy the Arab port of Jaffa under an agreement signed with the Arabs this afternoon, while Jewish militia men are preparing to take over the Holy City on the heels of the departing British.

Haganah forces are already moving into Jaffa ready to occupy all strategic points at zero hour. The Jaffa agreement gives the Jews full control of this all-Arab city-from which most of the inhabi- tants fled during the recent Arab-Jewish fighting.

The Arabs will hand over all arms and ammuni- tion to the Jews. Haganah will be responsible for law and order. A Haganah representative will direct the civil administration with the advice of the Arab Emergency Council. The military clauses of the agreement were kept secret.
