were never nicer than the new Spring designs now coming into the stores. Half the charm of wearing a hat is the well-groomed look it gives onc, as well as the soft and flat- tering beauty a pretty hat bestows. But the best hat won't be worth a penny if it is slammed around and otherwise carelessly handled. -

Be kind to your hat. Slip your hat from the front, if your bairda is. a flat-top; back to front is better with bangs.

Frequent Brushing

Whether a hat be of felt, fabric or straw, it should be brushed after each wearing. Use a soft brush or a plece of velveteen on felts, a soft brush on fabrics, and a stiffer brush on straw.

or pique or

other fabriced over buckrum can be properly cleaned up with an art Kum cruser. French chalk, rubbed in and brushed out, quickly cleans felt pastel-coloured hats, which, incidentally, will be the big fashion for Spring.

If you have a light hand, you can go over a light felt hat with flue sandpaper, but very lightly, please. Cleaning fluid refreshes ribboris and such. Don't forget to go over the Inner headband frequently with cleaning fluid.

Don't Plop On Chairs

Don't plop hats on chairs. Lay soft bats upside down, well stuffed with tissue paper to preserve their shape. A hat stand, made from a cone of cardboard, takes care of blocked felt or straw hats. If thero is room, keep hats in separate boxes. If a hat has a vell, place tissue be- tween the folds to prevent crushing, Have plenty of tissue paper in hat boxes.

Don't cry over rainspotted felts. Dry them out, and then, with a gentle circular motion, use a plece of shamols or fine sandpaper banish the spots.
