THE 1948 annual meeting of the Hongkong Jockey Club opened in brilliant weather fast Saturday. Large crowds packed the stands and cn- closures throughout the first three days of the meeting. Picture on the top right hand corner of the page gives an idea of the large attendance on Derby Day. Above, the Derby winner, Ataman, ridden by Mr E. A. Brodie, is seen being cheered in after winning the classic. The Ladies' Purse was won by Mr M. M.
