Overtime Work Plan To Boost Britain's Coal Production

London, Sept. 10.-The National Mine Workers Union Executive today announced a new overtime work plan to boost Britain's lagging coal produc- tion, which has been seriously crippled by the continued strike of almost 50,000 miners protesting against the "more work" orders.

Following a four-hour meeting, the Union President, Will Lawther, announced that the Executive had approved his master plan to increase pro- duction by either Saturday shifts or daily one-hour overtime stints-both at time and a half.

BRITISH FARMERS WARNED

London, Sept. 10-The Ministry of Agriculture today warned British farmers not to count on a mild winter,

The Ministry weekly newsletter cautioned farmers to prepare for a hard winter rather than to gamble on a mild one,

Tlio newsletter disclosed one of the ways the Ministry hopes to alep up wheat production by pushing a new variety of wheat known as Steadfast, which produces shorter and stronger straw and han high rust resistance.
