TO BANISH WANT

HISTORIC DECISION 'ARRIVED AT IN LONDON FOOD CONFERENCE

(By L. F. Easterbrook)

The farmers of the world, have met, have made history, and have dispersed again to' the four corners of the earth. But not before they have created, for the first time in the history of man, an organisation of food producers pledged to banish want from this planet. The International Federation of Agricultural Producers, has been born.

They deliberated in public session and private com- mittee for ten days. They worked by day and by night, for It was often approaching midnight, and sometimes in the early morning hours, that the last committee broke up. There were differences of view on matters of detail, espe cially in regard to the constitution of the Federation, and tact, patience and statesmanship were necessary to reconcile them. In the end, there was complete unanimity.
