Detailed evidence about the tendering and purchasing of A.R.P. stores was given to-day by Mr W. J. Anderson, Storos Controller-at-the- resumed inquiry into matters affecting the architectural office of the Air Raid Precautions Department. Mr Anderson told how the A.R.P. store was built and completed without air conditioning plant being ordered, and that as a result it was found necessary to consider ways of storing essential A.R.P. clothing.

Mr Anderson revealed that the Tenders Board had accept- ed the Chiap Hwa tender of $1.15 each for hurricane lamps upon the advice of the D.A.R.P. that the Chiap Hwa lamps were better. Originally the Chiap Hwa tendered för $1.35 per lamp. as against Lacon's price of $1.32.
