U. M. Omar Preserves

100 Per Cent Record

Police Checked In Third Division

OWING to volunteer duties, only two matches were played last week in the Lawn Bowls League, one in the First Division and the other in the Third. In the senior game, the new champions were defeated by the Indians at Sookunpoo while the Police received their first check in several weeks in the junior section.

Craigengower at Sookunpoo

were without C.S. Rosselet and

A.E. Coates and the Indians Major Baseball

were without A. M. Rumfabn.

But the margin of victory-31 Cardinals Win

shots-was too wide to be attri

buted wholly to the changes in the teams.

True, Ronselet is a regular skip and Goatee is the sheet-anchor of B.W. Bradbury's rink; but even with them in the side, have little doubt but that the Indians would have won though, not by the same margin-If both aides were at full strength.

Ho fan matches

V.M. Omar, drawn once more against A.R. Dallah, kept his 100 per cent. record intact, now gone through 10 without once being held and needs only two more victories for a clean League sweep.

Taking Hosselet's place as skip, Joe Landolt had bad luck to crack up against A.K. Minu when the latter

at the top of his form. Drawing and driving very ac- curately, Milnu outplayed his op- posite number on the majority of the heads, and, given good support by his front men, he conceded only five singles while scoring 33 shots, Including a seven.

A.A. Rezack playing No. 1 to Landelt, was the only visiting player to be up to standard; he held D.M. Khan well, but even he was out-

whone

In the lid rink, the absence of Contes made all the difference to B.W. Bradbury, who was finally benten by 17 shots by M.R. Abbas. But man for man, the Indians were the better rink and fully deserved

Brooklines, Mass., Sept. 10. The American Women's Golf Cham- pionship had many Arst-round surprises to-day, the chief of which was the. elimination of Betty Jameson, tile- holder.
