Special to the "Telegraph" WASHINGTON, Sept. 9 (UP)—The State Department has been informed that the Panamanian steamer Sess3, operated by the United States, YAH torpedoed and Bunk on August 17 off Iceland. Twenty-four persons, includ ing an American lost their lives. Three survivors were picked up on September 6.

The Sessn was n'former Danish vessel which was taken over by the Maritime Commission and operated by a New York firm in transporting supplies to Iceland. The State Department announced that the vessel carried foodstuffs, cercal, lumber and other general cargo owned by the Government of Iceland. No arms, ammunition or war im- plements were carried.
