The Sessa was a former Dánish vessel which was taken over by the Maritime Commission and operated by a New York firm in transporting supplies to Iceland. The State Department announced that the vessel carried foodstuffs, cereal, lumber and other general cargo owned by the Government of 'Iceland. No arms, ammunition or war im- plements were carried.
