The Tokyo announcement that American citizens of Japanese ancestry--popu- atid larly known as “Nisci”—can continue to reside in Japan and still maintain their citizenship removes one of the maia concerns which has hung over the heads of this large American group for many months past, according to a Shanghai dispatch to the "Christian Science Monitor."

There are several thousand Japanese-Americans in Japan and in other parts of Japanese- controlled Asin who have hoped that they would not lose their coveted United States citizenship papers due to a reported plan to require them to return to the United States within six months or bo classified as allens. The U.S. Consul-General in Tokyo has announced, however, that they may remain in Japan and continue to be classed as Americans so long as they do not serve in the Japanese Army or take Japanese Government jobs open only to Japanese subjects.
