STEAMSHIP SAILINGS

More American Ships To Call at Hongkong

The disideation of passenger traffle schedules and shortage of accom- modation resulting from the requist tioning of American ships by the American Government, has been slightly alleviated, it was stated in shipping circles yesterday.

Of the seven President Lince steamers which were delivered to the United States Moritime Commis- klon on 'completion their voyages some time ago, it is understood that three of the ships are now to remain in the service of the American Pro- sident Lines for the time being on a trip to trip basls.

Apart from requisitioning, the de- clsion of the Japanese shipping companies not to allow their ships to call here has also resulted, in the stranding of a number of people, and inconvenience

ce to others.

The situation would appear to be in- much improved now, with, an creased number of American ships calling here next month.

Three ships of the Amorlean Pro- aldent Lines are expected to ·leave Hongkong for the United States. The first is expected to leave about the first week in September, another about the middle of the month, and the third towards the end of the month. Further information regard- ing those sailings may be had on application to the American Pre- sident Lines, Limited,
