·.· SHANGKAO, July 15 (Con- vigorous tral News).—In counter-attack Chinese troops on the northern Klangsi front have recaptured Taingan, an import- ant town on the south bank of the central Lino River about 30 miles northwest of Nanchang, according to n field dispatch renching here last night.
of
Over 1100 Japonese troops came from Jensbouchten, northwest Anyi, in the middle of last week, in a furious onslaught on Taingan. In order to draw the enemy into the Chinese trap, the Tsingan garrison evacuated the town on July 10.
At nightfall, however, while the Japanese were not yet settled in the town, the Chinese counter-attacked, and after a few hours'
sanguinary fighting recaptured the town, inflct- Ing heavy casualties.
Tangan's strategle importance lies in the fact that it is a Junction town on river and highway, forming with Ang and Fenghsi un important triangle in the outer defence ring of Nanchang, provincial capital of Klangsi.
