No Alteration In Evacuation Policy

About 600 "bachelor husbands","marked the Orst anniver- mary of the evacuation in the Peninsula Hotel last night when they packed all available seating accommodation to hear the Evacuation Representation Committee make a report on its efforts to induce Government to lift the ban on women returning..

The meeting was the most tumultuous yet. held by the husbands. The proceedings were held up for several minutes on many occasions as speakers were unable to continue through the din, the speakers were applauded vociferously and catcalls, boos and hisses followed practically every reference, to govern. ment, especially the Evacuation Advisory Tribunal Wihal, the meeting was orderly and good natured and punctured by Inughters, mostly ironical.

The speeches brought forth a variety of suggestions, rang- ing from having a bonfire demonstration on July 4 to dealing direct with the Home Government. The only resolution puť to` the meeting, however, was that the old committéo carry on and continue with a stated policy aimed at the earliest possible return of the womenfolk from Australia.
