VICHY, June 26 (UP)—The British have Increased their pressure on all fronts in Syria before the French can reinforce or send more material to General. Dentz' dwindling defence forces, and for the first time since the start of the war, have turned their naval guns on Beirut. The squadron offshore which is firing directly into Beirut did considerable damage but the casualties were held low because a, good, portion of the civil population had been evacuated.')
