Evacuate Answers Norah Whitestone

In an article from Australia, published in the "Telegraph" ` a few weeks ago, Norah Whitestone expressed her disappoint- ment at conditions facing Hongkong evacuates in their wartime exile. She particularly stressed the fact that many friendships had been broken as the nerves of evacuates were somewhat frayed, and also deplored the poor housing conditions In Aus- tralia, the lack of useful occupation and the unwillingness of native Australians to give Hongkong evacuates employment or even to accept them for voluntary war work..

The following latter from another evacuate, Doris Dickens, rebuts some of the statements made by Norah Whitestone.
