Dragon Festival Boat Race

Kowloon,

The Chinese "Dragon" Festival which falls on Friday, the 5th day of the 6th Moon, will be celebrated in Hongkong by die Chinese community time-honoured fashion by com- petitive races with "dragon" boats. The meetings will be conducted by the Chung Sing Benevolent Society from their bathing shed in Kennedy Town.

Five dragon boats, representing Shaukiwan, Aberdeen, Cheung Chau and Wanchal, will participate, and the first race is scheduled to start at 3 pm. sharp. Four or five events will be held over distances from 200 to 800 yards.

The dragon boat is about 50 feet jong, And manned by a crew of 30, who, alt abrent in rowa of two. They are provided with paddles about four feet in length with thin, brond bindes.
