Fifth Extra Meeting Happy Valley To-morrow
Distant View, Sapper And United Express Not Nominated For Main Handicap Event
THE MOST IMPORTANT handicap event of the Fifth Extra Race Meeting at Happy Valley to-morrow is the Beas River Paddocks Handicap for all Australian ponies over the Derby course of 11⁄2 miles, though, the three champions, Distant Viow, Sapper and United Express, have not been nominated for this now classic, which is worth $1,500 to the winner.
A little over a year we saw the creation of “D” class section for Australian ponier, but to-morrow the in-
auguration of "E" clari division to be ridden by novice Combined R.A.
will be an additional pillar, set up by the Stewards in the interests of owners.
The meeting will be graced by the presence of His Excellency Sir Geoffry Northcote, necom- panied by the Governor of Macao and Madame Teixeira, and the whole party will be entertained to lunch by His Honour Sir Atholl MacGregor, Lady Mac- Gregor, and Mr S. T. William- son in their private box.
The curtain raiser will be the Carpentarla Handicap for the newly? "E" class Australian ponies over the mile to be ridden by apprentices, and there are 17 entries.
Though I do not expect that all will answer the roll-call, one may look forward to seeing a large fleld, and the allotment of the poundage is hard to follow, especially those weights given to the youngsters of
this season.

A great crowd should be present this evening on the Stand Court to witness the final of the Colony Open Doubles Tennis Champion- ship final. Once more the Rumjahn cousins, the holder, will be in opposition to the fine Tsui brothers and a five-set match is expected.

Bomber Fund Tennis
Sk, I agree with many people that those who watch the tennis from the top of the Cricket Club should not feel too shy to come down and take a seat in the Stands. There are about 00 to 100 of them.
The Doubles final is taking place afternoon, and I am sure it is going to be very good match:
This is a good opportunity to con- tribute the widow's mile to the Bomber Fund, not for nothing, mind you, but for something that is worth the money.

First Leg
THE FIRST LEG of the daily double event is on the" Moreton Bay Staken (first section) for "D" class Australian ponies, and the weight is assessed on the amount of stakes won since January 1. It is a scramble from the 11⁄2 mile post (about half mile 170 yards) and we have a short list of only 11 ponies to find the first leg.
Bredon should not have any dif- flculty in crossing the touch line first, with National Reform and Ozark to follow behind.
