CHUNGKING, Apr.. 24 (Central News) The Japanese engaged in the Cheklang offensive since April 10 met their first major reverse south of Chuki, on the Chekiang-Klang Railway, 38 miles south of Slaoshan and 71 miles northeast of Kinhwa, yesterday, according to military ad- vices.

With Kinhwa as their objective no fewer than 10,000 Japanese troops made simultaneous thrusts south- ward under the escort of squadrons of planes from Hengshanshih, Wang chintsing, and Paltowchen, points around Chuki, at dawn yesterday.
