Self-Sufficiency Object Of Eastern Supply Council

909 BY HAROLD GUARD

United Press, Staff Correspondent

SINGAPORE, April 18 (UP).—Following the Delhi Conference, Malaya is to have its own Department of Supply to supervise Malaya's' contribution to the direction of the war effort by the Eastern Group Supply Council, the composi- tion of which is virtually complete, according to Sir Shenton Thomas, Governor of the Straits Settlements.

· The working of this Council is expected to have a rapid effect upon the war efforts of the participating countries which include Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the soven East African territories, Burma, Ceylon, Malaya, Hongkong and Palestine, while the recent departure of a delegation from the Netherlands Indies to Australia is authoritatively admitted to be the forerunner of the Indies' inclusion in the bloc.
