Finishes During Easter Meeting
S.W. Lee Heads List Of Successful Owners
I WAS DELIGHTED to see Mr S. W. Lee heading the list of successful owners with two wins, a second and a third, because he has a string of about three dozen ponies including a couple of hacks. He has won an aggregate of $2,550, con- tributed by Blue Field, Baffin Bay, West Lake and Double Finesse.
Order Of Finishes
GOOD SPORT was undoubtedly enjoyed by all the race-goers, who Ind certainly the full value of their money, and there were a few re- cords broken.
The introduction of a clause prae- tically forcing owners not to run their ponies out of distances was not only well commended, but i was instru- mental in keeping the field down to those which our track could really hold.
Those "who have gone down the sink" must admit that there were not many runaway victories. The segregation of defeats shows following results:

Sapper Fails For First Time Of
Its Racing Career: Jockeys Suspended And Reprimanded
WITH HEAVY CLOUDS hanging above, Mr Clerk of the Weather did not open the tap on either Saturday or Monday last with the result that there was a tremendous crowd of racegoers present on both days of the Easter Race Meeting. There were several close and exciting finishes and complimentary remarks were heard about the fine results of the handi- cap events.
Outstanding feature of the Easter Carnival was the| disastrous running of Mrs Grasett's Sapper in the Albury Handicap from the 11⁄2 mile post (about half mile 170 yards), and this was the first occasion that the pony's saddle-cloth number was not hoisted in the semaphore since he started his racing career in 1940.
It may, however, be interest- ing to know that it was also Supper's first attempt over a short distance, and on top of this, the sailor jockey (Proulx) was put aboard at the cleventh hour because the usual pilot was suspended,

FOR the first time in lis 20 years of boxing, the veteran Larry Gains, former Bellish Empire heavy- weight champion, was knocked out at Liverpool.
He was beaten by Jack London, West Hartlepool heavy-weight. The knock-out came in the fourth round. Gains only once previously failed to finish a fight, When, in 1934, he lost his Empire title to Jack Peter- sen, the contest was stopped in the 13th round.
London is on the physical training staff of the R.A.F.
