Common Faults Of Most Players

Selfishness And Mistakes

In Dribbling And Passing

Avoid One-handed Play

NO ONE can play hockey by himself, but only as a member of a team; play, therefore, with your team. Hanging on to the ball, no matter how ex- pert a dribblor you may be, upsets the balance and weakens effectiveness.

A common mistake with beginners, and one which is difficult to cure once it has become a habit, is one-handed play. There can be neither accuracy in hitting nor control in dribbling unless both hands are kept on the stick.

But perhaps the commonest fault of all is that of hitting to the left. The stick is so made! that in its normal position it is held on the right-hand side of the body, consequently the easi est direction in which to hit the ball is to the left; this by swinging the stick across the body.
