Army Food Upset Dyspeptics
"A dyspetic soldier is a liabi- lity; a dyspeptic civilian, living | under a careful regime, may well become an assel."
This comment is made by the "British Medical Journal" on the report of two investigators on digestive troublos among troops. "It is highly questionable whether men with a prolonged history of organic dyspepsin, es- pecially of peptic ulceration, ahould be allowed to join the fighting Services," says the Journal. -
Too Heavy
The Inquiry was conducted by Mri Reginald T. Payne, a London sur- Reon, and Dr C. Newman, of the British Postgraduate Medical School.
They found that the change 10 Army food, which was too heavy for those prone to ulcers, was the most factor leading to the break- Important down of many of the troops who have suffered from dyspepsia.
During the period between the dis- patch of the B.E.F. and April 20 last 11.4 per cont. of all cases evacuated to Britain had a primary diagnosis of gastric or duodenni discase.
Bought Food

Men who served 'in the lost war said the food was bettor this time, but there was constantly reiterated complaint of good food spoilt.
