Kowloon C.C. Win Senior Shield

Civil Service Batsmen Fail Before N.D. Lloyd

University's Late Action

Unless I am very much mistakon, the cricket season for the Senior Division is over. The K.C.C. have won the Shield and no one can deny that they are by far the best side playing in it. And there is one other feature too to my mind, and that is, that there is more executive drive and playing keenness than in any other team. Despite delays, they stuck to it, and there was no messing about.

And that reminds me. I was personally informed by the captain of the C.S.C.C. that the previous week the University requested the Civil Service on Monday, March 24, to confirm in writing if the game on 29/3/41 between the two teams was "on". The C.S. replied in the affirma- tive. On Friday, March 28, I am told that the University Secretary cancelled the game in writing owing to Camp duties. A perfectly sound ground of course, but I do not quite see why these camp duties could not have been fore- seen on the previous Monday! One of the immediate results was to upset all the arrangements of the Civil Tournament Tennis Service first eleven at the last moment. I am not sur-

prised they have decided to cancel their two remaining Rumjahn Cousins

League Matches, and call the season finished. I should strongly advise them to stop out of the League next season unless there is a very drastic change in the situation.

One must be profoundly thankful that it was possible to play cricket on Saturday Just, when it was humid and very hot though not cheerful. The K.C.C. wicket was in its usunt excellent condition but D good deal

ELABORATE preparations are well under way to stage the "colossal softball classic" of the year on Easter Monday when two glittering exhibition games will be carded, for local ball fans, in aid of the Chinese War Orphans Relief Association.
