LONDON AS USUAL
Constant air raids during the past six months have done a lot of damage in London and caused a great deal of suffering, but the people are undaunted and their spirits are high, knowing that they are setting an un- paralleled example of courage that is the admiration of the whole world and an important factor contributing to the defeat of Nazi plans.
Although the face of London is scarred by the bombs, and many familiar landmarks are in ruins, there are still many areas that are practically untouched and where, as in the bombed districts, daily activity goes on very much as usual.. Some of these areas are pictured on
this page.
1. Knightsbridge, looking towards Hyde Park corner,
showing the Hyde Park Hotel on the left.
2. A suburban street scene --**** The Mount, Hamp;"
stead.
3. Brompton Road, looking towards Knightsbridge,
4. Regent Street, looking towards Oxford Circus.
5. Haymarket, looking towards Coventry Street,
6. Charles Street, from Haymarket, looking past
Lower Regent Street to St James's Square.
