British Experts For Washington

SPECIAL TO THE "TELEGRAPH"

LONDON, Mar. 12 (UP).- The conference to-day between the American Ambassador, Mr John Winnnt and the Minister of Food, Lord Woolton, fore. shadowed speedy United States aid to Britain on the vital

problem of food and shipping. The passage of the Lend and Lease Bill has cleared the way for United States assistance in these interrelated problems which are probably the most urgent facing Britain to-day.

As a result of the passage of the bill, the Ministry of Food is sending a mission to Washing- ton, headed by a prominent per- sonality whose naine has not yet) been announced, to discuss the shipments of foods under the provisions of the bill.

Abyssinia

CAIRO, Mar. 12 (Reu- ter). -- British Imperial forces in Abyssinin are smashing their way by road in lorries and trucks to wards the important centre of Harrar.

They have covered 120 miles in two days, meeting with no resistance apart from spasmodic air attacks.

Questioned on the possibi lity of Italian resistance at Jijiga and Harrar, a mili- tary spokesman fold "Reu- ter": "Our forces nre making a back door entry. The Halians have planned their defences to the north facing Djibuti and did not expect an offensive from the south."
