The French Government is under stood to have protested to the South African Government against the alleged stopping south of Cape Town, of the French cargo ship the Ville de Mujunga by a British cruiser, reports the official French news agency to- night.

The protest is stated to say that such actions far from the theatre of operations are unjustified and can have no effect on the result of the

war.

The French ship was on her way from Dakar to Madagascar. She is stated to be fourteenth ship seized by the British Navy since the beginning of the year and the 108th since the Armistice.
