The new Fire Station is expected to be completed in August or Sep- tember this year, when the breatht Wanchal Fire Station, near the Oriental Theatre, will move in. The whole of the existing station and quarters will then be handed over to the Auxiliary Fire Service.

The first floor of the new four- storey building, which is estimated to cost $140,000, has been constructedl so as to take the load of the super- structure should It collapse during a bombing raid. The four main doors will be opened by electrical

solenoid catch which is operated from the control room. The doors being counter-balanced, any individual door can be opened as required.
