Carried On Wounded LONDON, Mar. 3 (Brilish Wire- less). The Distinguished Flying Medal is awarded to a Royal Air Force rear-gunner, Sergeant Akeroyd, who was carrying out his duties one of a formation of aircraft detailed to attack on enemy camp.
Approaching the target, the forme-issued on the Hongkong Stock Mar- tion was attacked by six enemy ket this morning, fighters and Sergeant Alteroyd was wounded in the finger. Later he was hit In the right arm and finally in the stomach.
In spite of his injuries, he returned the fire at every opportunity. His wireless set was smashed and when the attackers were driven off, he crawled forward and informed the pilot of his injuries and the extent of the damage to the aircraft. He dis- played great courage and fortitude throughout.
