J. M. Gosano Fails To Save Recreio On Heavy Wicket

THE WEATHER HAS been so foul for so long that one had almost forgotten that the cricket scason was on. On last Saturday week everything was washed out-including the Races!. I actually went down to the Valley to a lunch party which was not cancelled but the weather was bleak and horrible. In some ways last Satur- day, it did not seem much better, but the grounds had dried up sufficiently to enable several games to be played. The star fixture was of course the K.C.C. and Recreio match when the former club managed to pull the game off and more or less made themselves secure for the Shield though there has not bean so much, interest in the com petition this year, with tho Army and Club out of it.

K.C.C. were fortunate to play jage no more than just under four! on their own ground when meet-runs per over, ing Recreio, but even their somewhat sheltered ground was none too good. The turf was of courae very heavy, the weather cold with a strong wind blowing | most of the time.

The Recreio, who were put in, played a rather typleal innings. They so often have one batsman come off and the rest do nothing. So it was on Saturday. They could not get the und away and could manage to aver

J. M. Cosana was the batsman who came off and he got 75 of their total of 128 for 9 wickets. Of the rext G. N. Gosano (12) stone got double figures. A team

caunot hope to win on one batsman.
