Will Be Involved In World Conflict
SPECIAL TO THE "TELEGRAPH"
WASHINGTON, Feb. 4 (UP). Mr Charles Beard, noted his torian and former professor at the Columbia University, told Committee to-day that the Lend and Lease Bill if "efficiently car- ried out would involve us official ly in the conflicts in Europe and 'Asia, and would jeopardise everything we cherish in the United States."

He added: "It is a Bill for waging undeclared wars. Con- gress must decide whether it is prepared for a showdown to carry the United States into a war in Europe and thus set the whole world on fire, or whether it is resolved to stay out of war until the last ditch and preserve the stronghold of order and sanity against the forces of
hell."
-He also asserted that Congress must decide whether it desires to give Britain unlimited access to the United States Treasury for the pur pose of guaranteeing the Empire's "present extent of economle resource and
economic methods." Congress must also decide wheller It wants

ON THREE FRONTS: TEPELINI IN FLAMES
LONDON, Feb. 4 (Routar).—Big fires in Tepelini indicate that the Italians are preparing to leave and are destroying their stores, states the Athens radio quoting a Greek Prass Ministry statement issued this evening. The radio statement declaros that Greek action continuos to meet with success on the Albanian front despite very bad weather in the past three days. In the coastal area beyond Chimara, determined attacks ended in the occupation of a high mountain pass which the Italians had trans- formed into a powerful stronghold.
At another point, a surprise attack launched on Monday morning resulted in the capture of important positions, many prisoners and much booty.
Italian Alpine troops among the prisoners declared that their commanders had ordered all who retreated to be shot immediately.

By JULIUS EDELSTEIN
Special to the "Telegraph"
WASHINGTON, Feb. 4 (Reuter).--According to competent Government sources, 50 per cent. of the United States military plane output was diverted to Britain during December and Jan- uary last.
It was also disclosed that United States plane production may exceed 1,000 a month by March, hut officinis did not say how many of these were military planes or how many were replace ments for cominercial air lines. Observers believe that the passing of the Lend and Lease Bill by the end of March is designed to meet the spring offensive of the Totalitarians.
