Chinese Wouldn'tĮ Join Fung Sin, 28, unemployed, of No. 308, Lockhart Road, ground dcor, was, charged before Mr. G. Sheldon, KC., at the Central Magistracy Chisi morning with demanding $6.00 with mensees from one Leung Tung-tal| at Russell Street on January 2, and with common ussault on Leung.

Det.-Sergeant J. Bentley, prosceut- ing, said that defendant and several others met defendant in Russell Street and tried to induce him to join the Yee Lok Trind Society. The next day they again demanded the money and insisted on Leung joining the Society, which has no fixed

address.

Yesterday they again met Leung and, when he refused to Joln defendant, hit him on the head.

Complainant appeared in court with his head bandaged and his clothing spattered with blood.

Defendant pleaded guilty to bothỈ charges and said "I only struck aim

my hand."
