Man With Thin Skull

Charged with the manslaughter of a fellow-soldier, who was stated to have a skull so thin that it was translucent in several places, Wu Kwong-lu, 26, a Chinese soldier internes at the Argyle Street Internment Camp, was found not guilty at the Criminal Sessions this morning,

H.K. Stock Market

The caso

was tried by the Chief Justice, Bir Atholl Mac- Gregor, and the following Jury: Messrs, F. C. Grant (Foreman), A. A. Noronha, Sou Zon-chang, Lal Fung-kong, Wong Hay. Campman Chan and Chiu Kwan-Issued

chee.

In his summing-up, His Lordship fold the Jury that it was not strict y correct to say that Wong died as a result of the blow indicted by Wu, because Dr L. Newton had testified that he did not think the blow alone would havs caused depth. Depth was due in part to the blow and in part to what was a most remarkable thing for a Chinese soldier whe had seen ective service that deceased had a skull so thin that a state of terror

cerebral congestion. could bring on

The defence was that Wong struck the frst blow and in support of this Dr Bee had stated that he found three

superficial scratches on Wu's wrist. If Wong had actually caught hold of Wa's wrist, the Jury, ordinary men of the world. might well ask themselves whether, what Wu had done, was anything more han they themselves would do in the circumstances.

The Jury retired for ten minutes after

which

returned they unanimous verdict of not guilty.
