Further Factors That Contribute To Victory

FIELDING THE BALL cleanly with one hand is an important phase in the game of hockey. It goos for smartness and speed, for a ball so swiftly and securely stopped means seconds saved in a speedy attack.

Trapping the ball with the stick is a second such phase, and in preparing to stop the ball with the stick, the handle should not be gripped tightly. A rigid stick makes for a rebound that may send the ball to one's opponent.

Before touching upon shoot- ing, there is another important duty that is imposed on for- wards, and that is their duty to assist the half-backs, especially when being over-played by their inside for- opponents. The
