The food kitchen in Hennessy Road, Wanchai, depicted in the illustrations, is operated by the Salvation Army with funds Four such kitchens are at, the present time maintained by the provided by the Hengkang Refugee and Social Welfare Council. Council--the other three being at the old St. Peter's Church, West Point, at the old Magistracy, Yaumati, and at Shumshuipa, The one daily meal served consists of a thick Altogether, about 4,000 meals are served daily, or nearly 1,500,000 meals a year.

The existing grant of $30,000 a year made by the Council to the Food Kitchen Sub-Committer is insufficient owing to the rising cost of material, and the Couned would be thinkful for any donation from public spirited citizens which may be earmarked for this purpose.
