J. Marques Accused Of Deliberate Obstruction In Cross-Harbour Race

EXONERATED BY COMMITTEE

A SPECIAL COMMITTEE met yesterday at the V.R.C. to consider an unprecedented protest from South China Athletic Association alleging that J. Marques. deliberately obstructed Miss Li Po-luen in the cross- harbour race on Friday last, and when near the finishing wall did so in such manner as to prevent Miss Li from winning the race.

The protest was dismissed and Marques completely exonerated.

Mr. Roza Pereira went on to sug- gest to the South Chins representa- Ives that

Mr. Li Chi-hoy (South China) sald the that the protest had been made fol- lowing Miss Li's complaints after race. The obstruction had occurred just in front of the V.R.C., and added that it was his belief that Marques had deliberately obstructed Miss Li in order that Miss Guterres might win.
