All Canada's Men Will Be Trained

Every able-bodied Canadian is to be trained to defend his home. A calf has already been made for 75,000 men to be train- ed in the next three months.

In a broadcast, the Minister for Air, Mr. C. G. Power, declared:-

"This nation will be no horde of refugees, untrained, untaught, help- less and impotent, fleeing blindly in the face of the enemy,

"Rifles, machine-guns and anti- alrerntt guns are not of much use to A novice who does not know one end of a gun from the other.

"This colling-up of 76,000 men is quite a job and it will need read- ness, willingness, goodwill, tolerance and every help possible from you.

"The plain, simple facts are that 'the courage of the peoples of the British Commonwealth, the gallan- try of our Air Forces, the power of our Nayles, and the steadfast- ness of our soldiers are all that 'stand between freedom and slavery, between banour and dihonour, be- tween civlisation and barbarisan, between the survival of good and the domination of evil, "We are fighting alone in the lust ditch for all we and the world of tree men hold dear."

"It Is Our Battle" Colonel Le Ralston, Minister for Defence, sald recruiting was going on in every district of Canada and units

active of non-permayent

Militia (corresponding to the Territorials) were to be recruited up to full strength and additional units would be formed.

He added that the home defence units would be trained at night and at district Readquarters so that the men would not be forced to leave their jobs,

"The battle of Britain has started," he declared. "It is also the battle of Canada,"
