With the air blitzkrieg increasing in intensity daily as the European war passes into the second year, the mighty Totalitarian Axis on the one hand and the powerful Island Empire on the other are continuing in a life and death struggle, the outcome of which will decide not only the fate of Europe but also the destiny of the world for generations.
Making the balance sheet for the first year of the war highly in its favour, Germany within a little more than nine months has conquered Poland, Denmark, Norway, Holland, Belgium, and

THE WAR
SYNCHRONISING WITH what may prove the greatest air raids yet made on Germany, Italy and Axis-occupied territory, a terrific aerial battle is in progress over the eastern Mediterranean Sea as this edition of the "Telegraph" goes to press.
No details of this battle are yet forthcoming.
But reports from Germany and Italy tell of large-scale raids by the Royal
Air Force.
In the course of these raids British bomba were in- advertently dropped on Swiss For Vithout, however;-|| causing any casualties.
The British raids were over the widest area yet bombod,: ranging from central Germany to Austria, Italy, France and Holland.
