FAREWELL ΤΟ SHANGHAI
These pictures, exclusive to "The Telegraph" show the im- pressive scenes as the British Garrison paraded for the last time in Shanghai before sailing for new duties.
The last ceremonies were 'watched by almost the whole European population.
The British troops-Seaforth Highlanders, and Durham Light Infantry—took part in the farewell tattoo illustrated here.
In the last few days they abandoned ordinary uniforms and took up stations in battle dress.
On their march to the ships they were led by the American Marine band with their own brass and pipe bands following.
Their departure ended a 13-year period in which British troops have assisted in the defence of Shanghai.
