LONDON, Aug. 29 (British Wireless).—News has been received that General Catroux, formerly Governor-General of French Indo-China, has joined General de Gaulle.

General Catronx, who was relieved of his post in Indo-China by the Vichy Government because he wished to continue the struggle at the time of the French surrender, has had considerable military experience in the Near East and in Morocco.

He is one of the most outstanding figures in modern French colonial history. (General Catruux was relieved by Vice-Admiral Jean Decoux as Governor- General of Indo-China).

Australia Bans Import of Bank of England Notes

CANBERRA, Aug. 30 Router).-A regulation has been gazetted prohibiting the importation of British banknotes into Australia.

Incoming passengers will, however, be permitted to bring in British banknotes not exceeding £10.

Residents of Australia are given until September 5 to cash the notas hold within the country.

Full exchango value will be given for such notes 20 are negotiable under this regulation.
