Recreio "A" Defeated By Police: Craigengower's Chance For Shield

IT SEEMS that I spoke out of turn. last Satur- day when I said that the weather, at long last, appeared to be improving. It did look like it at one time but half-way through the League pro- gramme, the rain came down in torrents.

All the matches in Kowloon had to be called off as the rain continued for over an hour, but several on the Island were completed. To those who were playing in Kowloon, this must have been surprising, for on the peninsula there was no earthly chance of continuing even when the rain abated.

"I was told that conditions at these finished matches were very unpleasant. But rather than call off the games when only a few heads from the end, the players decided to carry ON. As I have remarked more than once, local lawr bowlers are a hardy bunch! Whether they enjoyment from derive any playing on a sodden green is another matter, however.
