The Annual Report of the Superintendent of Inland Revenue, tabled in Legislative Council this afternoon, discloses higher revenue from both Betting Duty and Enter- tainment Tax.

Belting Duty brought in $248,713 revenue, com- pared with $238,274 in 1938. Entertainment Tax brought in $351,988, com. pared with $320,027 in the preceding year.

Last Year's Figure Now High Record

The Report of the Assessor, tabled in Legislative Council this afternoon, discloses that the total Rateable value of Hong- kong, Kowloon and New Kow- loon reached a new record during 1930.

The total on December 31 'was compares with $43,077,122, which $38,120,381 on the same date in the preceding year. This represents - an increase of over 10 per cent, in one year,

New Kowloon Increase

The greatest Increase took place in New Kowloon where the valuation leapt from $2,334,421 to $3,183,684, an Increase of 36.52 per cent. Valuation of Kowloon property in- creased from $8,320,000 to $10,000,- 008 (27.30 per cent), of Hongkong villages from $3,868,140 to $4.509,050 (10.64 per cent.) and the City of Victoria from $21,501,151 to $24,724,- 303 (14.51 per cent.)

A new valuation of the tenements in Hongkong, Aplichau, Kowloon and Now Kowloon was made during 1939, Increasing the rateable value to $41,- 915,072; or 18 per cent.

This increase of $8,412,450 is the. greatest ever made at the annual re- valuation, the next highest being the |1825-20 re-valuation.
