Led by a sergeant-clerk 10 men ur the ground staff of a R.A.F. compon- ent squadron in France fought Nazi parachutists for five hours in a village! until every enemy was dead.

Travelling in twa lorries, weary after 17 hours on the road, the men had stopped to rest in the village,

At dusk the bombers came, flying low. bombing and machine-gunning. They flew around until darkness fell, when the parachutists, carrying tom- my guns, were dropped.
